As I train each week I am struck by the different challenges that the road vs. the treadmill provides. On "the mill" I dread boredom, on the road I fear running out of air. This all makes sense to me. Obviously, there is no change in scenery in the small apartment gym that I frequent. My options of diversion include my iPod track, the latest episode of Master Chef on the attached T.V., or attempting to study Physiology notes as I run on noisy treadmill. Outside, the surroundings change constantly and many distractions are present. However, there is also the challenge for my lungs which take on fluctuations in cool air, wind, and pollutants. At the end of the week my miles usually were a combination of both forms and to me they accomplished the same goal:
Me. Actually. Running.
The attached video was made before I set my 10 K plans. I post it here today for any walkers-joggers-runners- those working on "the mill" and those pounding the payment.
